The well-known Coimbatore charitable trust Kovai Kalaimagal Educational Trust founded the autonomous Coimbatore Institute of Management and Technology (CIMAT) in 1996. From the academic year 2010–2011, UGC and Bharathiar University granted CIMAT autonomy.

The institute only provides post-graduate programs in computer applications (MCA) and business administration (MBA). Library

The library is a treasure trove accessible to academics and students. With its initial stock of 2050 books when it was first established in 1999, the library today has more than 16,300 volumes on management and computer science topics with online referential access. Hostel
