CUET Exam to Replace Class XII Scores in Central Universities Admissions

CUET Exam to Replace Class XII Scores in Central Universities Admissions

The government has officially announced that the Central University Entrance Test (CUET Exam) will be made compulsory across all the central universities, which include DU, JNU, AMU, BHU, CU, and other such institutions. This means that the current “cut-off system” where the Class XII marks of the students were considered, will no longer be in place.

Applications/Online Registrations for the CUET Exam 2022 are currently underway. Candidates can do the needful on the official website https://cuet.samarth.ac.in/ latest by 6th May 2022. As far as the exam date is concerned, reports say that it will be held somewhere around the 1st Week of July.

    CUET Exam Paper Pattern

Students need to mainly remember that this exam will have a total of 3 sections with each of them testing a different facet.

Section I will be a language test that’ll test the candidates’ literary, narrative, and vocabulary skills to name a few. Section II will be more of a domain specific examination in which the candidates will have to choose between 27 different subjects.

Finally, there’s Section III that is more of a General Knowledge paper, testing candidates on aptitude, logical reasoning, quantitative, and current affairs amidst other things.

    Eligibility and Scoring

Earlier, the Class XII scores of the students were considered. If their “best of 4 percentage” was above the minimum required cutoff, they were eligible for admission to the university.

Now, however, irrespective of how much one scores in Class XII, s/he needs to give the CUET Exam, by appearing for at least 1 language from Section I and between 3-6 domain specific subjects of Section II (these should be similar to the subjects they have studies in Class XII)

Students will have to score at least above the passing marks in the language test to be eligible for admission. Additionally, the top 3 performances in the domain specific subjects will be considered (Best of 3)
