In 2008, Kathir College of Engineering was established. The college is located 8 km from the train station at Coimbatore Junction. It is recognised by the NAAC and has ties to Anna University.

The institute provides five specialisations at the UG level for BE and B.Tech. 50% of the required minimum for both courses is earned in 10+2. Admission is awarded to those who are willing to apply based on how well they do on the qualifying exam. The TNEA Counselling, however, is the basis for the ultimate seat distribution.
