The University Grants Commission has granted MCC Bangalore its recognition. Vasanth Nagar in Bangalore is home to MCC Bangalore, a women's college. The college is associated with Bangalore City University and has been re-accredited by NAAC with an A+ Grade (4th Cycle). Only merit will be considered for admission to the B.Com. professional, industry-integrated, business process services, tourism and travel management, and regular programs. Admission to the B.Com. IAF-ACCA, SF-CMA, and CF-CPA programs will be determined by an entrance exam. A walk-in interview will determine whether or not an applicant is accepted into the BCA program. After a walk-in interview, admission to the B.A./B.Sc. and B.Voc programs will be awarded. Every PG programme has an admissions policy that is based on merit.

Bangalore City University designated the Commerce Department as a Research Centre in 2006. Following this in 2015 were the departments of Biotechnology, Botany, Electronics, Life Science, Home Science (Human Development, Food Science & Nutrition), and Economics. Nine departments have also been acknowledged by IGNOU as Research Centres for the 2010–2011 academic year. In addition, the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) has registered the institute, and the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, has recognised it as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (SIRO) (Act 1988).
