    The University Grants Commission has granted MCC Bangalore its recognition. Vasanth Nagar in Bangalore is home to MCC Bangalore, a women's college. The college is associated with Bangalore City University and has been re-accredited by NAAC with an A+ Grade (4th Cycle). India Today ranks MCC Bangalore in the top three places in Karnataka for undergraduate and graduate programs in management, business studies, science, and the arts.

    The college offers 11 programs in the Arts faculty, 19 in the Science faculty, and 8 in the Commerce, Business Studies, and Management faculty at the UG level. MCC provides 19 programs at the postgraduate level under the autonomous system. In addition, it provides two career-focused courses, six skill-based programs in healthcare and cosmetology, baking, garment construction, and fashion design, as well as two evening postgraduate diploma programs in business administration. In order to offer the International Twinning Program MBA and M.Sc. in Tourism Management along with Industry Specialist Professional (ISP) certification, MCC and Binary University, Malaysia signed a Memorandum of Agreement in 2017.

    The Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Government of India, has granted MCC Bangalore the Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (SIRO) status, the Department of Business and Technology (DBT) Star College Status, and the UGC Potential for Excellence label. India Today 2021 has MCC Bangalore ranked seventh overall.

    Only merit will be considered for admission to the B.Com. professional, industry-integrated, business process services, tourism and travel management, and regular programs. Admission to the B.Com. IAF-ACCA, SF-CMA, and CF-CPA programs will be determined by an entrance exam. A walk-in interview will determine whether or not an applicant is accepted into the BCA program. After a walk-in interview, admission to the B.A./B.Sc. and B.Voc programs will be awarded. Every PG programme has an admissions policy that is based on merit.

    Bangalore City University designated the Commerce Department as a Research Centre in 2006. Following this in 2015 were the departments of Biotechnology, Botany, Electronics, Life Science, Home Science (Human Development, Food Science & Nutrition), and Economics. Nine departments have also been acknowledged by IGNOU as Research Centres for the 2010–2011 academic year. In addition, the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) has registered the institute, and the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, has recognised it as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (SIRO) (Act 1988). MCC Bangalore has been designated as a star college by the Indian government's Department of Biotechnology (DBT).
