The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced a major revision in the CUET UG 2025 Accountancy paper, introducing an optional unit to provide greater flexibility to candidates. The revised format will be implemented starting May 22, 2025.
The CUET UG 2025 Accountancy paper, conducted between May 13 and May 16, faced concerns from students regarding the inclusion of computerised accounting systems and some technical glitches. Many candidates, particularly those from schools with traditional accounting curricula, found the section challenging.
In response, the NTA, after consulting academic experts, decided to introduce an optional unit, allowing students to choose between Unit V (Computerised Accounting Systems) and an alternative module.
Under the revised pattern, students can now opt for an alternative unit instead of attempting questions from Unit V. This change aims to ensure fairness for candidates who may not have had extensive exposure to computerised accounting.
Additionally, to make it even more fair, students who appeared for the Accountancy paper between May 13 and May 16 will have the option to retain their original scores or reappear for the revised version of the paper. Candidates who wish to reappear for the Accountancy paper under the revised format must confirm their choice through the official CUET website within the given timeframe.
What’s Next for CUET UG 2025?
Apart from the Accountancy paper revision, the NTA has confirmed that optional questions have been eliminated from all subjects to align CUET UG with other national-level entrance exams.
Students are advised to review the updated syllabus and prepare accordingly. For further details, candidates can visit the official CUET website, https://cuet.nta.nic.in/.
What is CUET UG?
CUET UG refers to the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for undergraduate programs. It is a national-level entrance exam in India, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). It is designed for students who want to pursue undergraduate courses at central universities and other participating institutions across the country.
Before CUET UG, universities had their own admission criteria, making the process different for each institution. This exam was introduced to standardize the admission process, ensuring that students are selected based on a common test rather than varying college-specific exams.
CUET UG covers multiple subjects, and students choose their test papers based on the courses they want to apply for. It includes sections on language, general aptitude, and domain-specific subjects like science, commerce, and humanities.
By taking CUET UG, students get a single-window opportunity to apply to multiple universities, making admissions more transparent, efficient, and accessible for all. In the Present day, CUET is one of the most preferred national-level entrance tests in India, with thousands of colleges and universities participating in it.
