Chennai is home to the engineering and management school Sri Muthukumaran Institute of Technology (SMIT). It has the approval of the NBA and AICTE and is associated with Anna University.

Undergraduate engineering courses are available at SMIT Chennai. The institute provides MBA degree programmes at the postgraduate level.

• Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) counselling and qualifying exam merit scores are used to determine admission to B.E. programmes.
• Admissions for M.E., MCA, and MBA programmes are based on TANCET results and graduation certificates.
• Doctorates are awarded in accordance with the policies and guidelines established by Anna University.
• The fundamental requirements for admission to a B.E. programme are 10+2 in PCM, and for postgraduate programmes, candidates must have graduated from an appropriate programme.

SMIT Chennai MBA Admission

The institute provides an MBA programme, an MCA, and postgraduate degrees in M.E. with six specialisations.

Applicants for an M.E. should have earned at least 50% (45% for those in the reserved category) in their Bachelor's degree or its equivalent in the appropriate field, including mathematics, at the 10+2 level. Their GATE score needs to be authentic. Candidates for an MBA must hold a bachelor's degree in any field with a minimum of 50% (45% for those in reserved categories).
