Located in Chennai's Anna Nagar East, Valliammal College for Women is a private institution connected to the University of Madras. Undergraduate programmes in Science, Commerce, Computer Applications, and Business Studies are available at Valliammal College for Women. These programmes last three years. The current course offerings include a General B.Com programme that includes three specialised B.Com programmes with specialisations in Corporate Secretaryship, Bank Management, and Computer Applications; Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) programmes in Mathematics, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, and Computer Science; Bachelor in Computer Applications (BCA); and Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA).
The primary prerequisite for enrollment in undergraduate programmes is passing the Intermediate or 10+2 exam from an accredited board. Candidates are chosen on a first-come, first-served basis exclusively based on the merit of their 10+2 grades.

Postgraduate courses leading to two-year Master's degrees are available in Science, Computer Applications, and Management Studies at Valliammal College for Women. The Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Computer Science/Biochemistry/Applied Microbiology/Biotechnology/Bioinformatics, the Master in Computer Applications (MCA), and the Master in Business Administration (MBA) with a focus on Business Communication and Total Quality Management are among the courses that are currently being offered at the postgraduate level.
For admission to these courses, a bachelor's degree in related or related fields from an accredited college or university is the minimum prerequisite. First-come, first-served basis is used for the selection of candidates based on their degree exam scores.

- The M.Sc. Biotechnology and M.Sc. Bioinformatics programmes are open to graduates of B.E. or B.Tech programmes in biotechnology as well as M.B.B.S. or B.D.S. degrees from accredited universities.
- If they fulfil all of the requirements for admission, graduates of B. Pharm, BPT, or B.V. Sc. are eligible to apply for admission to the M.Sc. Bioinformatics programme at the University of Madras.
- In addition to BCA graduates, candidates for admission to the MCA programme may also be B.Com (General)/B.Com. in Bank Management/B.Com. in Corporate Secretaryship graduates, or graduates of BCA programmes with a B.E.S. or B.Sc. in Mathematics (or Physics, Statistics, or Applied Sciences).
