The GATE 2026 registrations for postgraduate engineering admissions and public sector undertaking recruitment are scheduled to end on 25 September 2025 without any late fee charged. The GATE Exam 2026 is on 7, 8, 14, and 15 February 2026 in CBT format.
The GATE 2026 Exam is one of the famous and highly competitive exams across the nation. The Indian Institute of Science and the Indian Institutes of Technology jointly organise this exam every year. This year, the Indian Institutes of Technology Guwahati is conducting this examination on behalf of NCB-GATE.

How to Apply for the GATE 2026 Exam?
Step 1: Open the GATE 2026 Website at gate2026.iitg.ac.in and open the registration form tab.
Step 2: Register yourself with your full name, email address, and mobile number. Only one person can register through one email address and mobile number.
Step 3: Students will receive their enrollment ID and password after registration. Use this while filling out the application form.
Step 4: Log in and open the application form. Fill in all personal and academic information, which must match your ID proofs.
Step 5: Upload ID proof, photographs, qualification documents, and other documents in their respective fields.
Step 6: Check the declaration and submit the application form by using the listed payment method.
Gate 2026 Eligibility Criteria
- Educational Qualification:
- Candidates must be in the 3rd year or last semester of any bachelor's degree or have already completed a government-approved degree program in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, or Arts.
- A candidate should have a minimum of a 3-year UG degree.
- All degrees like B.E./B.Tech./B.Pharm., B.Arch., B.Sc. (Research)/B.S., M.B.B.S./B.D.S., M.Sc./M.A./MCA, integrated Master’s programs, or professional society examinations recognised as equivalent by MoE/AICTE/UGC/UPSC are considered to be eligible.
- Candidates with backlogs can appear if they are in their final year, but should clear all backlogs before admission.
- No Age Limit:
- Anyone who is eligible and fulfils other requirements can apply; no specific age requirement is needed.
- Number of Attempts:
- There is no restriction on the number of attempts; candidates can appear for GATE multiple times.
- Nationality:
- Indian nationals as well as candidates from countries like Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates are eligible to apply, provided they meet the educational criteria.
