IIM Shillong Admissions 2026
The IIM Shillong admissions have started for PhD, PhD (Working Professional) and PGP (Working Executive) programs from November 2025. students can fill application form by visiting the institute's official admission portal and submit the application form by the deadline of 22nd January 2026. The admissions will be entrance-based through the Common Admission Test. The admissions are open for various doctoral programs, the Post Graduate Programme in Management for master's studies, and the Integrated Programme in Management for bachelor's and master's studies.
The eligibility criteria for the PGP program include holding a bachelor’s degree and a CAT 2026 score. The general category candidates must have completed a bachelor’s degree with at least 50% aggregate marks along with a 5% aggregate marks relaxation for reserved category candidates.
The eligibility criteria for IPM were having 60% in both the 10th and 12th grades. This percentage was 55% for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Differently Abled. Candidates must have studied Mathematics or Applied Mathematics in the 11th and/or 12th grades. The date of birth of applicants was expected to be on or after the 1st of July 2005, within a 5-year relaxation for SC/ST/DA.
The selection for the program for PGP were by using the CAT score and candidates needed to meet the overall and sectional cut-offs in the for various topics like verbal ability and reading comprehension (VARC), data interpretation and logical reasoning (DILR) and quantitative aptitude (QA), followed by other shortlisting rounds of a written ability test and a personal interview. IIM Shillong does have mandatory decisions to select candidates after evaluating all submitted applications.
IIM Shillong Selection Criteria 2026
IIM Shillong PGP selection process is based on a composite score. For IIM Shillong, the composite score is based on a range of inputs, including CAT percentile, academic performance, work experience, and personal interview performance. The IIM Shillong selection process consists of two stages: shortlisting and final selection. In the shortlisting stage, participants' composite score consists of 65% from the CAT score and 35% from the Normalized Application Rating Score, which incorporates the participant's academic performance and work experience. In the final selection stage, the participant's CAT score, PI performance, academic ratings and diversity elements comprise the final selection process.
IIM Shillong Eligibility Criteria 2026
The first criteria is to apply and appear for the CAT 2026. The eligibility criteria of which is as follows:
- To apply and be admitted into any one of the many programs in management through CAT you should be a graduate with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA.
- In case of being from scheduled caste, scheduled tribe or differently abled , you should have at least 45% marks.
- Your qualifying degree must be from a University, established by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature in India, or an Institution recognised by the Indian Government and declared to be a University under Section 3 of UGC Act of 1956.
- Or you may be awarded an equivalent qualification from the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
Shortlisting Stage:
- Composite Score: Based on 65% CAT score, 35% NARS score.
- NARS Score: Based on Class 10 and Class 12 scores along with work experience.
- Academic Performance: Based on Class 10 and Class 12 scores
- Work Experience: Points based on duration and relevance of work experience
Final selection stage:
- Personal interview: The shortlisted candidates participated in a PI round
- Final composite score: The final selection consists of CAT score, PI performance, academic ratings, and diversity element.
IIM Shillong Weightage Criteria 2026
At the Indian Institute of Management Shillong, the weightage criteria consist of 30% CAT scores, 40% Personal Interview, 10% Past Academic Performance (PAP), 10% gender diversity, and 10% Work Experience. In the evaluation of PAP, candidates receive weighted marks from their performances in their 10th, 12th, and graduation years in predefined ranges.
Due to the thresholds in each of these parameters, candidates who are able to achieve above these performance levels can, and generally will, meet the cutoffs. IIM Shillong Admission Process 2026
The Indian Institute of Management Shillong's admission process is conducted in two phases:
Phase 1
Eligibility: Candidates must have applied to IIM Shillong PGP 2026-28 through CAT 2026.
Minimum CAT Cutoffs: Candidates must have met minimum percentile cutoffs in all 3 CAT sections (VARC, DILR, QA) specific to their status (General category: 75 percentile; SC/ST/DA lower cutoffs that pertain to being categorised as SC/ST/DA on CAT application).
Composite Score: This score will be calculated for eligible candidates based on:
- CAT percentile score
- Combination of academically performed percentages (Class X & XII)
- Work experience
Ranking and shortlisting are based upon grouped candidates as per their academic discipline and category.
Gender Considerations: Candidates will be further re-grouped on gender considerations.
Total Candidates Shortlisted: The total number of candidates who will be directly called for PI will be determined through the availability of seats based upon historic trends and overall performance.
Shortlist Notification Process: The message will be communicated to shortlisted candidates via the IIM Shillong website, email, and SMS, and the shortlisted candidates must acknowledge they have received the message by completing an interview form.
Phase 2
Constituting Final Merit Listing and Final Admission Offer
Scoring criteria / Components: Once created, the final merit list will be made up of a weighted overall score consisting of:
- CAT 2024 Score (40%)
- Personal Interview score (PI) (40%)
- Application Rating Score (Academics + Experience) (10%)
- The gender diversity score (10%) will have bonus points awarded for the minority gender group.
Cutoffs for PI Performance (proficiency): Each category has minimum percentage requirements in communication proficiency and PI evaluation.
Waitlist: Candidates will be admitted based on rank until the seats are filled and they will be maintained in a waitlist for the next offers.
Admission Confirmation - Candidates are asked to provide proof of graduation by December 31, 2026*.
