IIM Indore Selection Criteria 2026

The selection process for IIM Indore's flagship PGP program is often a competitive and holistic process built around multiple factors, especially CAT score, academics (10th and 12th), work experience, and diversity. The exact relevancy of each to the selection process can vary year over year. CAT scores may be pivotal in first-stage shortlisting while candidates who progress to the next stage are called for a rigorous Personal Interview (PI) stage which is similarly important in the final selection stage. The selection criteria for the MBA program is as follows:

PGP - MBA Program:

• A bachelor's degree with minimum 50% marks (45% for reserved categories).
• Final year students can apply provisionally subject to submission of final results.
• Must appear for the CAT exam.

PhD Program:

• Master's degree with at least 60% marks or equivalent.
• Valid score in CAT, GMAT, GRE, GATE, or UGC-CSIR JRF.
• Submission of a research proposal.
• Personal interview for research aptitude assessment.

Five-Year IPM:

• Qualifying marks in Class 10 and 12 as prescribed.
• Selection through IPMAT followed by a personal interview.

IIM Indore Weightage Criteria 2026

The IIM Indore uses a specific Weightage distribution for intaking candidates as part of its selection criteria. The weightage may vary slightly year to year but strong CAT performance and consistent academics remain crucial.

The CAT scores are given a weightage of 45%, the academic performance 10%, diversity factor of 5% and the Personal Interview hold the most weightage with 45%. The admissions procedure for getting into IIM Indore is as follows: 

Step 1: Check the eligibility criteria

• The candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks as a general candidate, 45% for SC/ST/PwD categories or an equivalent CGPA.

• Candidates currently in the final year Bachelor's degree or awaiting results can also apply provisionally with a Certificate confirming that he/she will satisfy all requirements of a Bachelor's degree before or by 30th June 2025.

• Candidates included in the eligible candidate category are candidates with Bachelor’s, candidates with professional degrees (CA/CS/ICWA/FIAI) with a percentage, and candidates of the final year Bachelor’s category satisfying the percentage cut-off.

• Candidates have to clear the minimum section wise and overall percentiles cut-off for CAT 2025. The cut-off of each individual section may be different as varied by each of the categories. For instance, General category candidates will need to score 80% in each section and overall have 90%.

Step 2: Fill out the CAT 2025 Admission Application Form: 

Candidates must appear for CAT 2025, which is scheduled for Sunday, 30 November 2025*, and register themselves online at https://iimcat.ac.in/ when CAT registration starts. While registering for CAT, the candidate must select the option to apply for IIM Indore PGP. In the case of the candidate registering, they will not be able to change their category after the CAT registration closure.

Step 3: Go through the selection process:

The selection involves the following stages:

• Stage I: Appear for the CAT examination and clear the cutoffs.

• Stage II: Shortlisting for Personal Interview (PI) based on a composite score computed from 10th and 12th standard scores, CAT sectional scores, and a diversity factor. PI will be held offline or online in multiple cities and candidates must attend. Minimum performance in PI components is necessary to move to the final stage.

• Stage III: Final selection is based on a Final Composite Score (FCS) computed from 10th, 12th scores, CAT scores, PI score, and diversity factor.

Final admissions offers are made category-wise, adhering to reservations which are: 27% seats for NC-OBC, 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST, up to 10% for EWS, and 5% for PwD candidates as per government rules.
