FMGE December Exam 2025: The Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) exam is a national-level licensing exam conducted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) twice a year, in June and December. It is specifically structured for Indian candidates who have obtained their MBBS degree from a foreign medical institution and want to practice medicine in India. The application process for FMGE 2025 started on 14 November 2025, with the last date to apply set for 4 December 2025. The FMGE exam date 2025 will be held on 17 January 2026. The exam will be conducted as an online Computer-Based Test (CBT), and candidates can download the FMGE admit card 2025 on 14 January 2026.

To be eligible for the FMGE 2025, candidates must be Indian citizens or Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) with a recognized foreign medical degree validated by the Indian Embassy in that country. Also, applicants must have completed their final medical examination before the specified cut-off date and may need an eligibility certificate from the National Medical Commission (NMC). The application for the fees is INR 6195, and it also includes 18% GST applied to it.
To obtain a provisional or permanent registration with the Medical Council of India (MCI) or any State Medical Council (SMC), passing the FMGE exam is a mandatory requirement. The exam is held twice a year, in July and December, and consists of 300 multiple-choice questions covering essential medical subjects.

FMGE Exam 2025
Students who have obtained their medical degree from a foreign institution but wish to practice in India have to give the FMGE 2025 Exam, which is conducted in two sessions June and December. The application for the session of December began on 14 November 2025, with the deadline set for 4 December 2025. Candidates will be able to download their admit cards a few days before the exam by logging into the official website www.natboard.edu.in using their login credentials. The Application form fee for all the candidates looking to apply is INR 6195, and the application form will not be considered complete without the payment of the fee.
The FMGE 2025 Exam December session is scheduled to be held on 17 January 2026, and the results are expected to be declared on 17 February 2026. To pass this screening test, candidates must achieve a minimum score of 150 marks. Qualified candidates must apply for provisional registration with the National Medical Council. After successfully completing an internship at an accredited hospital or medical college, they can apply for permanent registration with the NMC or their respective State Medical Council, enabling them to start practising medicine in India.
FMGE Admit Card 2025
The FMGE admit card 2025 will be available on 14 January 2026, and candidates will be able to download their admit card by entering their registration number and password on the official website. The FMGE exam 2025 is scheduled to be held on 17 January 2026, students have to take a printout of the admit card with a valid ID proof to the examination centre, as entry inside the centre without it would not be allowed. They are advised to download the FMGE hall ticket 2025 before the exam date to avoid any last-minute hassle.
FMGE Answer Key 2025
The FMGE answer key 2025 will be released by NBEMS at the end of January, after the exam is held on 17 January 2026. The answer key contains all the correct answers to the questions asked in the exam, and it will also allow the candidates to get an idea of the marks they will score in the exam.
Candidates can view the answer key by visiting the official website and logging in to the portal by entering their details. The exact date of the answer key is not been announced yet, so candidates are advised to visit the NBEMS site regularly.
FMGE Result 2025
The FMGE result 2025 will be declared on 17 February 2026 by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences on their official website www.natboard.edu.in. One month after the exam, and they can view the results by logging into their candidate portal. The result would include section-wise marks, total marks, and the qualifying status of the candidate. Qualified candidates will get a pass certificate after completion of the verification process.

Candidates receive 1 mark for each correct answer, and there is no negative marking, meaning incorrect responses do not result in any deduction of marks.

The FMGE syllabus 2025 consists of pre-clinical and para-clinical subjects from the syllabus of MBBS. FMGE Eligibility Criteria 2025
The FMGE exam eligibility criteria are set by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) for all candidates looking to apply for the FMGE exam. It is mandatory for all the candidates to adhere to the eligibility criteria set by NBEMS. The detailed eligibility criteria set by it are mentioned below:
General Eligibility
- The candidate must be an Indian citizen or an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI).
- No age limit
Educational Qualification
- A medical degree that is approved by the Indian Embassy and is recognised for practising medicine in the country.
- The medical degree should be from a college that is recognised by the WHO directory or is approved by that country's medical body.
- Passed the medical exam and have received their result before 30 April 2025.
- A certificate from the National Medical Commission (NMC).
FMGE Application Form 2025
The FMGE application form 2025 will be released on 14 November 2025 on the website of the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences. Candidates planning to take the exam must fill out and submit the form before the deadline of 4 December 2025. The FMGE exam was first introduced in 2002, so those who completed their medical degree on or before 15 March 2002 are exempted from taking it.
Candidates who have obtained their medical degree after 2002 are required to register for the FMGE 2025 exam. The registration process involves several key steps. First, applicants must enter their details to complete the initial registration, then they need to fill out the application form and upload essential documents such as their MBBS degree, internship certificate, and other required paperwork. Finally, they must pay the application fee, which is INR 6195, including 18% GST, for all candidates regardless of category. Application fees can be made through multiple payment methods, including debit card, credit card, UPI, or net banking.
FMGE Cutoff 2025
The FMGE 2025 December session exam is set to take place on 17 January 2026. Once the exam is completed, the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) will publish the results on its official website. Candidates who pass the exam can access and download their individual scorecards by logging in with their application number and password.
To qualify, candidates must obtain at least 150 marks out of 300, which accounts for 50% of the total score. Only those who meet this criterion will be marked as "qualified" in the exam. Upon passing, they can proceed with the next steps, including applying for provisional registration with the National Medical Council (NMC) and commencing their mandatory internship.
