The GATE Application Form 2026 will be released on 28 August 2025 (Thursday) to 7 October 2025 (without late fee). Students can still submit the form until 13 October 2025 (with late fee). Candidates must enter their personal details, academic information, and upload the required documents before submitting the form. All the candidates need to ensure that they pay the application fee on time in order to complete the application process. For General candidates, the application fee during the regular period is INR 2000 and during the extended period is INR 2500. For SC/ST/PwD/Women candidates, the application fee during the regular period is INR 1000 and during the extended period is INR 1500. 

Foreign students may also participate in the GATE 2026 examination, subject to meeting the required conditions. The exam does not impose any maximum age limit. Applicants should have completed a bachelor’s degree from a government-recognized university in relevant streams like Engineering, Science, Arts, Technology, Humanities, Commerce, or Architecture. Final-year undergraduate students are also allowed to apply.

How to Apply For GATE Application Form 2025?

The GATE 2026 application form can be accessed on the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) portal on 28 August 2025. Here’s a step-by-step guide for the candidates to fill out the application form for the GATE 2026 exam.

Step 1: Visit the official website and find the online application form link. @gate2026.iitg.ac.in 

Step 2: Candidates now need to navigate to the GATE GOAPS portal and click on ‘New Candidate Registration.’ 

Step 3: Register on the GOAPS portal with a valid email ID and mobile number. Create a password. 

Step 4: Login to the GOAPS portal with your credentials and fill in all the details required (personal, exam-related, and academic).

Step 5: Candidates will now have to select their desired GATE paper(s) along with their preferred exam cities. 

Step 6: Upload scanned copies of all the necessary documents that are required for the completion of the application form. 

Step 7: Pay the application fee via online methods such as Credit Card, Debit Card, Net Banking, or UPI. 

Step 8: Carefully go through all the details before submitting the application. Once the review is done, submit the application form and save a copy of the submitted application form.

GATE 2026 Application Correction Window 

The application correction window for the GATE 2026 exam will be to open on 28 October 2025 to 10 November 2025. The official dates for the application correction window are yet to be announced by the organizer, IIT Guwahati. During the application correction window, candidates will be able to make the necessary corrections and edits to their applications.
