GATE Result 2026: The GATE Result 2026 will be declared on 19 March 2026 (Thursday). The GATE entrance exam is scheduled on February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026. Candidates can check their respective scorecards through the official GOAPS portal 'gate2026.iitg.ac.in'. GATE Result Validity 2026

The GATE 2026 scorecard is valid for 3 years from the date of the result announcement. The candidates with qualifying GATE 2026 scorecards are eligible for direct PhD programs at IITs, IIITs, NITs, and IISc, and master’s programs (M.Tech, MS, and ME). In addition to this, the GATE 2026 scores are used for recruitment by Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). The rank scored in the GATE 2026 exam is further used for the counselling and seat allocation process. 

As the validity of the scorecard is for 3 years only, candidates are advised to participate in the counselling and seat allocation process within the given time.

Questions either are of 1 mark or 2 marks

Negative Marking 

MCQ

  • For every wrong answer, there will be negative marking
  • For a 1-mark MCQ answered wrong, 1/3rd of a mark is to be deducted.
  • For a 2-mark MCQ answered wrong, 2/3rds of a mark is to be deducted. 

MSQ or NAT – There is no negative marking for wrong answers and no partial marking in MSQ.
