GRE Application Form 2025: Registration Dates, How to Apply


The application form for the GRE 2025 test will be available throughout the year, giving the candidate flexibility to choose their exam date. The GRE general test can be given up to 5 times in a year, with a 21-day gap in between every attempt. The application form filling process will take place entirely in online mode at the official Educational Testing Service (ETS) website–https://www.ets.org/gre.html 

To register for the GRE general test, candidates will have to pay an amount of INR 22,000, while for the GRE subject test, the fee is INR 14,500. The Educational Testing Service does not set any specific eligibility criteria in order to take the GRE tests. 


GRE Application Form 2025 

The application form for the GRE 2025 exam is available on the official Educational Testing Service website. Candidates who wish to take the GRE general test can register for the exam by creating an ETS GRE account and then submitting their form on the website. 

The GRE test dates vary based on the location chosen by the candidates, and the test is conducted in several test centers across major cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, and more. Candidates must verify the date availability on the official ETS website. To register for the GRE general test, applicants must pay a fee of INR 22,000 for the general test and INR 14,500 for the subject test. Candidates who want to retake the test will have to pay another INR 22,000. The general test can be taken a maximum of 5 times in a 365-day period with a gap of 21 days after each exam.

After the registration is completed for the GRE general test, candidates must download the registration form, fee receipt, and admit card once they become available for future use.

How To Fill Out The GRE Application Form 2025? 

Given below are the steps for filling out the application form:

Step 1: Visit the official website–https://www.ets.org/gre.html

Step 2: Click on the link that displays ‘Create an Account’

Step 3: Enter all required details like name and email address (make sure the name matches your passport)

Step 4: Create a password, and select a security question with an answer that will be easy to remember

Step 5: Submit the form after reviewing all the information 

Step 6: Select the preferred dates for the GRE test 

Step 7: Pay the GRE exam fee, which is INR 22,000 (general test) or INR 14,500 (subject test)

Step 8: Complete the payment through the use of credit or debit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express)

NOTE: GRE registration fee is partially refundable if the candidate cancels their test a few days before the test day. Candidates are advised to check the official ETS website for their refund policy.

GRE 2025 Documents Required

Here is a list of documents that a candidate will have to present for the verification process:

  • A passport with the same name as given during the registration process
  • Document regarding the change of name in case of a different name present in the registration process and the passport
  • A government-issued ID will also work as a supplemental ID proof

GRE 2025 Correction Window

The Educational Testing Service (ETS) does not offer any correction window to make changes in the registration form, so candidates are advised to double-check the information given by them before registering on the official website. 

However, ETS provides the facility to make changes in test registration, and that includes rescheduling the exam date and canceling the exam. This can be done through the candidate’s ETS GRE account.
