IIT Kharagpur Law & Public Policy Programmes 2026: Admissions Open, Apply Now
IIT Kharagpur is inviting applications from students who want to get admission into its law and public policy programs for 2026. Applications are now open for the LLB (Honours in Intellectual Property Law), LLM, and the Master’s in Public Policy, Law and Governance (MPPLG) programmes.
Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law (RGSIPL) is the only law school within IIT Kharagpur that specialises in intellectual property and technology law. The LLB (Hons in Intellectual Property Laws) is a three-year full-time programme and it is designed for graduates in engineering, technology, science, medicine, and allied disciplines.
The last date to fill out the online application form for admission into any of the courses mentioned above is 20th February 2026. Candidates should make sure that they check the eligibility criteria and prepare the required documents while applying online.
IIT Kharagpur Law & Public Policy Programmes Eligibility Criteria
Students should fulfil the eligibility requirements for their preferred courses before filling out the application form. Below is a list of eligibility criteria:
- LLB (Hons) in Intellectual Property Law
- Students should have a first-class Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology, or Medicine.
- First-Class Degree in Science, Pharmacy, or MBA.
- Or students with a minimum of 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale can also apply.
- LLM with specialisations in Intellectual Property Law, Criminal Law, and International Law
- Students should have a First Class or equivalent in the LLB/BL(5-year) programme from a recognised university.
- First Class or equivalent in LLB/BL (3-year) programme with a Bachelor’s degree in Humanities, Science, Commerce, or equivalent.
- Master’s in Public Policy, Law, and Governance (MPPLG)
- Students should have a 4-year Bachelor’s degree (minimum of four years) in Engineering, Medicine, Commerce, Maths, Science, and Law.
- Minimum of 65% or 7 CGPA for General/OBC/EWS candidates.
- Minimum of 60% or 6.5 CGPA for SC/ST/PwD candidates.
- The upper age limit for General/OBC/EWS candidates is 30 years and 35 years for SC/ST/ PwD candidates.
