The National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved 4201 new postgraduate medical seats in Broad specialities for the private medical colleges for the academic session 2025-26. Earlier, there were only 3,123 PG medical seats, but the expansion has increased the total to 7,324. The decision was taken by the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB), which stated that the added list of newly approved and enhanced seats has been uploaded for stakeholders.

The NMC Director, in a separate circular citing the MARB communication, advised institutions, students, and parents to be aware of the revised seat matrix. The notice emphasized that these extra seats fall under the Broad Specialities (BS) category and are specifically designated for private medical colleges in the upcoming academic year.
