IIM Mumbai to Announce a 4-Year UG Program in Digital Science & Business Management
IIM Mumbai has revealed a new 4-year UG course in Digital Science and Business Management, thus being one of the first IIMs to follow IIM Bangalore in the undergraduate domain. The course is to equip students with skills required in the future work environment by integrating digital technologies with management education.
The program is a technology-driven curriculum with a management focus. The innovative Bachelor's programme revolves around the concept of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Internet of Things (IoT) and Robotics as the emerging technologies to be implemented in the traditional management domains like Operations, Marketing, Finance and Manufacturing, etc. According to the institute, this blend is meant to build graduates who are equally comfortable with advanced digital tools and business decision-making.
Industry and International Collaborations
IIM Mumbai has designed this program in collaboration with specialised partners, such as C4i4 and various industry companies, to ensure the curriculum aligns with current industry needs. The institute is also working with Accenture Strategy to integrate experiential learning through real-world projects and internships, allowing students to gain practical experience in the challenges of contemporary digital business. Furthermore, discussions are underway with IMT France for a potential international collaboration, which could provide students with global perspectives and academic exchange opportunities.
NEP-Aligned Structure and Pune Extension Campus
The programme is structured in full alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP), offering multiple entry and exit options to make the course more flexible and inclusive. To support this flagship undergraduate initiative, IIM Mumbai has received approval to set up a small extension campus in Pune, where the Pune Municipal Corporation will provide an existing building to be refurbished for academic use. This Pune facility will function as an extension of IIM Mumbai and host key teaching activities for the new undergraduate programme.
Growing UG Footprint of IIMs
This development follows IIM Bangalore’s launch of its own four-year full-time residential BSc (Hons) programmes in Data Science and Economics, for which the admission process for the first batch has already closed. IIM Bangalore is conducting the IIMB Undergraduate Admissions Test (IIMB UGAT) on December 13, with interviews in January 2026 and final offers expected by February 28, 2026, signalling a broader move by IIMs into high-quality undergraduate education. More details from IIM Mumbai on admissions, eligibility and fee structure for the new UG programme are expected to be announced in due course.
