JEE Advanced 2026 Full Schedule Out: IIT Roorkee Reveals Key Dates for Registration, Exam, Results
The Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, has published the full schedule for JEE Advanced 2026, which is the primary qualifying examination for the IITs. The test is set for May 17, 2026, and will be held in a Computer Based Test (CBT) format. The first paper will take place from 9 AM to 12 PM, while the second paper will run from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Only those students who have been ranked the highest in JEE Main 2026 can take the examination.
The application process for JEE Advanced has been specified to commence on April 23 and end on May 2, 2026. The candidates who are eligible can file their applications online on the official website. Payment of the application fees will be accepted till May 4, admit card issuance will start on May 11, and results will be declared on June 1, 2026.
In addition, JEE Advanced is the second and more difficult phase of the top engineering entrance examination in India, which is preceded by JEE Main. In contrast to JEE Main's wider filtering, Advanced goes deeper into Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics and the level of comprehension, speed, and accuracy is required to be high through the two compulsory papers taking place in the online mode.

Note:
- AAT (Architecture Aptitude Test): Extra test for B.Arch seats at IITs like Roorkee, Kharagpur and BHU. Only JEE Advanced qualifiers take it. Tests drawing skills, 3D perception, creativity, and architecture awareness. Pass status needed plus JEE rank for admission.
- JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority): Central counseling process for IIT, NIT, IIIT seats. Uses JEE Advanced ranks to allot seats across institutes. Multiple rounds based on choices and availability.
JEE Advanced 2026 Eligibility Criteria
A candidate who wants to appear for the JEE Advanced 2026 exam must meet the following five criteria, which include performance in the JEE Main exam, age limit of the candidate, no. of attempts, etc.
1: JEE Main 2026 Performance
Top 2.5 lakh candidates from all categories qualify for JEE Advanced from the BE/BTech paper of JEE Main 2026. The category split is 10% GEN-EWS, 27% OBC-NCL, 15% SC, 7.5% ST, and 40.5% OPEN seats for everyone. Each category also has 5% extra spots for PwD candidates. The table shows the order to pick these top candidates based on their JEE Main performance.

2: Age Restriction
The applicants must be born on or after 1 October 2001. SC, ST, and PwD candidates get 5 years of relaxation, so born on or after 1 October 1996.
3: Attempt Limits
A candidate can take JEE (Advanced) at most two times in two successive years.
4: Class XII Exam Appearance
Candidates must first appear in Class XII (or equivalent) in 2025 or 2026 with Physics, Chemistry, and Maths. Those who appeared in 2024 or earlier are ineligible, except if their board declared 2023-24 results on/after 18 June 2024.
5: Prior IIT Admission
Candidates cannot have joined any IIT program via JoSAA 2025 or accepted a seat. Those whose admission was cancelled after joining are also ineligible. Prep course starters in 2025 can apply. JoSAA 2025 allottees who didn't report, withdrew early, or got cancelled before the final round are eligible if they meet A1-A4 criteria.
