PhD admissions for the academic year 2026 have commenced expected early January 2026 through the IUMS portal. The application deadline aligns with that of merit-based UG/PG programs, with submissions expected end of February 2026. Admission to Doctoral programs is granted through a combination of written entrance tests and interviews. 

Kurukshetra University offers PhD degrees across numerous subjects, such as English, Hindi, Commerce, Engineering, Science, Humanities, Law, and Social Sciences. All such courses are offered in both full-time and part-time mode. To become eligible for admission, students must have completed Master’s degree with at least 55% aggregate marks, and also have a valid entrance exam scores (NET/GATE/GPAT). The total fee for the PhD program is INR 36,150 per annum. Interested candidates can apply online by paying the application fee, which is INR 800 for the general category.

UG Programs

• Candidates must have passed the Class 12 or equivalent with a minimum of 45% marks from a recognised board. For some professional courses like B.Tech, B.Pharmacy, and BHMCT, eligibility includes specific subject requirements and qualifying entrance exams as per course norms.

PG Programs

• Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in the relevant discipline from a university recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) with a minimum of 50% marks (45% marks is required for SC/ ST/ OBC. PwD). . 
• Some PG courses require qualifying entrance examinations such as the KUK PG Entrance Test or other national-level exams, as per the course requirements.

PhD Programs

• A Master’s degree or an equivalent professional degree recognised by the relevant statutory authority with a minimum of 55% marks is required to pursue PhD programs. 
• Admission to PhD programs is based on the candidate’s performance in the university’s PhD entrance examination, followed by an interview/viva-voce. Candidates who have qualified UGC-NET (including JRF), CSIR-NET, or other equivalent fellowships are exempted from the entrance test, subject to verification of documents.
• Shortlisted candidates after the written test are required to present a research proposal synopsis before a panel for final selection.

Diploma Courses

• Aspirants must have completed Class 12 from a recognised board. 

PG Diploma Courses

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline with at least 50% marks is required for PG Diploma courses. 
• PG Diploma in Floriculture requires B.Sc. (Biological sciences) with 50% or Agriculture with 55% .
• PG Diploma in Knowledge Traditions in Sanskrit & Indology: Requires graduation with ≥ 50% .
• PG Diploma in Buddhist Studies: Graduation in any discipline with ≥ 40% .

Certificate Courses

• Educational Qualification: Generally, Senior Secondary (10+2) or graduation, depending on the course.
• Language and skill certificates (French, German, Urdu, Japanese): Require Senior Secondary Certificate .
• Some evening courses (e.g., Communication Skills) require at least a Bachelor’s degree with ≥40% 

Kurukshetra University Admission Process 2026

Kurukshetra University has started its admission process for the 2026 academic session in August 2025, and the application window will close on expected end of February 2026 for most Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and PhD programs. The complete admission procedure is conducted online through the university’s official Integrated University Management System (IUMS) portal.

• Click “New Candidate Registration” and provide name, email & mobile. You’ll receive login credentials.
• Read the guidelines, tick the declaration, and select the desired program(s).
• Fill in personal info (parents’ names, DOB, etc.) and category details.
• Add educational qualifications (Class 12th, degree/diploma).
• Upload required certificates (qualifications, domicile, category, weightage, migration, etc.).
• Tick the declaration statement, review the entire form, and confirm submission.
• Proceed to online payment (net banking/UPI/Wallet). Once submitted, forms cannot be edited.
• Download the confirmation page. Verify the fee status (“OK”) in IUMS; otherwise, await a refund.
