Aligarh Muslim University offers a great range of courses such as B.Tech, MBBS, B.Sc, MBA, PhD, etc. Students have to fill out the application form online by visiting the university's official portal. The application will start in the first week of January 2026(Tentative). The candidates also have the option to correct the application form.

Aligarh Muslim University UG Admission 2026

The application process has already been done for 2025-26. Now application form for the 2026-27 academic year will start soon in January 2026, except for MBBS Programs, for which admission will be decided after the results of NEET UG 2026. 

AMU provides various undergraduate courses such as B.Tech, MBBS, B.Sc, BCA, B.Ed under the specialisations Biochemistry, Physics, Arts, Computer Applications, Civil Engineering, etc. The UG course typically lasts for 1 to 5.5 years, with a total tuition fee from INR 8,000 to INR 16,00,000.

The university conducts its entrance exam for admission in different courses, except for the MBBS course, for which qualifying NEET UG Exam with a valid score will make the candidate eligible for counselling. 

Students must complete Class 12 with 50% marks in relevant subjects, depending on the course from a recognised board, and also the candidate must not exceed 24 years of age as on 1 July 2025.

AMU offers Postgraduate programs under the course MD, M.Tech, M.Ed, MA, M.Com, MBA, etc. Admission to the PG courses is based on the Departmental entrance exam, except for the courses M.Tech and MD Admission to these two courses relies on GATE and NEET PG Scores and counselling. Most of the PG course duration is 2 years, with a very reasonable fee from INR 20,000 to INR 1,00,000.

AMU also offers Diploma programs as a part-time course, such as Diploma in Foreign Languages and Diploma of Proficiency in Urdu. The admission portal will open and the application form will be available from the first week of January 2026 with an application fee of INR 750.

Applications for various programs were open from early January 2026. Within the allotted period, candidates who wish to enroll in their preferred courses can complete the application and pay an application fee that varies from INR 700 to INR 1,550. 

Students who fall under the reserved category get a certain amount of relaxation from paying the application fee, for which students should frequently check the official website. For the convenience of its students, AMU offers a simple admission procedure. 

Students will be eligible for a Departmental Entrance Exam administered by the university (if applicable) only after completing the application form and scanning the required documents. UG Program

To become eligible for B.Tech, BA, B.Sc, etc., students must have 50% of the aggregate marks in Class 12 with the relevant subjects from a recognised board or university. Also, candidates must not be more than 24 years old as of 1 July of the same year.

Additionally, candidates have to qualify for Departmental Entrance Exams (if Applicable) and National Level Entrance Examination(if Applicable) to become eligible for the desired course.

PG Program

Admission to the PG course such as MA, M.Sc, MSW, etc., is determined by passing the departmental entrance test, along with the eligibility standards, such that the candidate must have a graduate degree with passing marks of 50% to 60%, depending on the course from a recognised university. Moreover, the candidates must not be more than 27 years old as of 1 July of the same year.

Candidates who want to take admission in M.Tech or MD courses must have passed the GATE and NEET PG exams with valid scores.

PhD Program

AMU is offering a 3-year PhD program to its students. The candidates must pass the postgraduate degree with a minimum of 55% in a required subject from a recognized university.

It is also essential to obtain at least 50% of marks in the written entrance exam conducted by the university to become eligible for the interview.

Applicants who have passed the JRF Test, NET/GATE/GRE/M.Phil, or UGC/UGC-CSIR, are exempted from the written test, but candidates should clear the interview round.

Diploma Programs

Admission to Diploma programs will be available to candidates who have passed their Class 12 or equivalent exam from a recognised board or university.

Certificate Programs

Candidates who have passed Class 12 or equivalent exam from a recognised board are eligible to apply for admission to Certificate programs.
