    Kasturba Medical College (KMC) in Mangalore was founded in 1955. It is a component of MAHE, Manipal, which was founded by Dr. TMA Pai. In 1958, the Medical Council of India recognised it. It was quickly acknowledged by the General Medical Council of the United Kingdom, the Malaysian Medical Council, and the Australian Medical Council. It also received full accreditation from the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs (AAHRPP) in December 2011, a first in India. It was India's first self-financing medical college, as well as the country's first institution to implement the Public Private Partnership model. The college was first affiliated with Karnataka University, then Mysore University in 1965, and Mangalore University in 1980.

    • To be admitted to the MBBS programme, the candidate must have completed 10+2, A level, IB, or American 12th grade with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English individually, with a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology taken together.
    • The institute also offers over 15 UG electives for a 4-week duration at the undergraduate level.
    • A Bachelor's Degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) with one year of Compulsory Rotatory Internship obtained through the (10+2)+5 system from any recognised University with a minimum of 50% marks is required for admission to MD and MS programmes.
    • The NEET PG score is used to select candidates for MBBS, MD, and MS programmes.
    • Admission to the M.Sc. The candidate must have a Bachelor's Degree in MBBS/ BAMS/ BHMS/ B.Pharm/ BPT/ BDS/ B.Sc. Nursing from any recognised university with a minimum of 50% marks through the (10+2) +4 or 5 system.
    • The entrance exam, MET, is used to select students for these courses.
